“I Want To Have a High Yoga Butt Like Yours”
OMG! I was in the gym the other day and I walked on the Stepmill Cardio Climber for a while to burn some stored body fat and to tighten my legs and glutes.
I know many male trainers are against cardio. Personally, I love cardio and would never skip cardio or have my clients skip the one scientific principle that strengthens the heart, builds a stronger respiratory system, improve circulation, cleanses arteries, acts as a natural antidepressant relieves stress, improves your overall energy and not to mention it helps get rid of ugly fat!
SO, when you read their material, judge by your mirror and your and your body dimples. Each of us has our own preferences. YOU need to decide for yourself what works for you!
After stepping my legs felt a little tight so I thought I would sneak into the back of a Yoga Sculpt class in the studio. I don’t like all the animal terms and the wooey stuff, but I thought…for the benefit of organized stretching, I could manage listening to how to connect with the earth and being directed to look like some animals and birds.
Marketing moment- That is one of the reasons why I made my own Stretch and Sculpt workout. I love the concept of Yoga, but I found that many people could not do some of the moves, plus I love stretching to the relaxing yet inspiring Jazz music I used as inspiration for developing long lean beautiful dancer’s muscles.
Back to the gym and the studio – I grabbed a mat and slipped off my sneakers and sweaty socks. The first few minutes went well, and I finally let go of tension I was holding in my face. We went into a series of moves; sun salutation, downward dog, updog, etc. See I told you! I think of myself as a princess, not a DOG@!! Anyway, after about the third set of moves, I was upside down in an Inverted Stretch (that’s what I call it) and I heard this grunting sound so I looked up for a moment. AAAHHHH!! I could not believe what I was looking at!!
Two rows up in my perfect sight was this sweet grandma. She was sweating, grunting, breathing hard and totally out of sync with the class. She looked like she was going to pass out. She would stop the exercises, sit up, wipe off the sweat and with great determination, plow back into the move sequence.
Now that is not what made me gasp. What I was flabbergasted about was the fact that she was wearing short-short booty shorts with full size big lady bloomers that were hanging out underneath the Booty Shorts!!
Some people just should not be sporting around the gym, mall or beach in booty shorts.
That was it for me! I was willing to tolerate being directed into animal poses, listening to the astral music, smelling petiole mixed with sweat aroma and watching the instructor act like she’s having sex with every breath she took. BUT when it came to looking at Aunt Bee from Andy Griffith on TV Land re-runs bending over in my eyesight with booty shorts and bloomers, I was outa there.
When we were released to take a water break, I quietly grabbed my sneakers and ran to safety.
I went to the stretching area of the gym and took out a Dance/Fitness magazine from my backpack that had beautiful pictures in it. I just laid there as i stretched and saturated my mind with NEW PLEASANT images. I believe that if you want something, you put the pictures of in into your non-conscious mind and you will begin to move toward it. OKAY!!! So you see why I immediately went into NEW VISION mode.
I stretched for about fifteen minutes and headed to the locker room and who do you think had the locker next to mine? YES, miss granny panties!
She was a total sweetheart. She asked me why I left the class so early and I just stood there smiling and said, “I had some other things I needed to LOOK into”! She whispered to me and said, “I have worked my whole life and now I am retired and I want a HIGH YOGA BUTT…like yours”.
I thanked her for the kind compliment and proceeded to sneak her to the back of the locker room and told her if she really wanted a great butt like mine, she would have to follow my advice. I gave her these instructions:
1. You have to eat for fat loss and energy. Your diet is number one. You can exercise all day, but if you don’t get the high calorie, high sugar carbs out of yoru diet, you will be overweight and dimply forever.
2. You need to do cardio. Try some dance workouts and some light weight training routines that combine lifting with cardio.
3. Stay in the game. Be disciplined, be persistent, study winners and don’t follow people who have not done it themselves.
4. Live each day with enthusiasm and energy. Don’t give your power away to negative, pessimistic people. This way your journey will be the reward as much as the destination.
She yelled “Thank YOU” and gave me a big sweaty grandma hug. She turned and waltzed her way back to her locker and just before she opened her locker door, she turned to me and winked as if tips I gave her are OUR little secret.
In actuality, there is no secret in the body changing tips I gave her, there is a question though..What will it take for her and for YOU to follow them?
