Okay you had fun, you had a great weekend but now your favorite jeans won’t button and you have cankles (bloated ankles) instead of svelte ankles.

1. SWEAT it OUT
A great way if you are healthy, are not on medication and have your healthy doctor’s consent, get to a sauna, steam bath or Jacuzzi hot tub, or a hot steamy bath at home. The max time to stay in a sauna or hot tub is 15 minutes at a time. Take 15-minute breaks in between sessions with a max total time of 30 minutes. Then you must drink distilled, bottled or filtered water to rehydrate with the proper fluids.
2. MOVE IT to LOSE IT
Get your sneakers on and beat a fast path to the gym, to the track, get your weights out of storage, throw those clothes off your bike, treadmill or elliptical you have in your room, turn on YouTube and get your cardio dance groove on or turn up the heat in your bedroom and have a DIY hot yoga workout. It really doesn’t matter what you do, just find an activity that makes you want to move for thirty minutes or more and get to it. Moving will increase your metabolic rate, increase circulation and signal your endocrine system to begin stabilizing your water levels. You will be making a trail to the potty before you know it. YES!
3. Parsley Tea
Parsley tea has good diuretic properties. You can take 2 teaspoons of dried parsley leaves and put it in a cup of boiling water and let it steep for ten minutes then drink. A recommended plan is to do this three times per day.
4. Epsom Salt Bath
This is a great well-known home remedy that helps get rid of a bloated tummy and helps with overall water retention. You mix two cups of Epsom salt in warm bath and soak for fifteen minutes. You can do this daily or three times per week to help you get bloating relief.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar
Drink: Apple Cider Vinegar is another solution for your retention issues. It replenishes potassium in the body and that helps reduce sodium levels that then reverse the retention. Put one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in eight ounces of water and drink two times per day.
6. Soak: You can also soak your feet in a warm footbath made with equal parts warm water and apple cider vinegar. It is helps drain water retention from your lower legs and ankles and a as a bonus, it reduces foot odor.
7. Lemon Juice
Lemon Juice is excellent fro flushing out excess fluid and toxins from your body. You mix two tablespoons of organic lemon juice with warm water. You can add a natural sweetener if you like. You drink it three times per day before your meals for up to a week.
8. Fennel Seeds
Put a teaspoon of fennel seeds in a cup of hot water and cover to step for ten minutes. Strain and drink the tea up to three times per day before meals. Fennel is also good for constipation that could be a factor in bloating. Super, another bonus benefit.
I know that kinda sounds silly, but it’s not, it’s scientific. Getting your body to it’s natural hydration state helps stabilize your endocrine system and signals your body to normalize your cellular water levels. It has been recommended that you drink 8-8 oz. glasses of filtered water per day. Now each of us has different needs. Some of us may need to drink even more and others may get great results with less. You have to experiment and see where your body looks and performs it’s best.
You can use a good detox tea. Drink it in the morning thirty minutes before you have breakfast and then drink one of the teas that are listed here along with your water. You can add fresh lemon or some of the vegetables to your infuser water bottle. The key is to drink and flush out your system to help it release the excess.
