Metabolic Madness – You Must Do This!

This week, I am going to answer an e-mail that explains the benefits of increasing muscle mass which will help you burn more calories.

The more calories you burn, the more fat you will be able to lose. This is why working out is so powerful in a good weight loss program. You can starve your body by restricting your calories to less that 1,000, but that will only slow down your metabolic system causing Metabolic Madness!

Your body will perceive it is going into a famine and will enter into a “self preservation” state to conserve itself. When you break the famine and increase your calories, your body suddenly begins to store extra calories to prepare for the next famine.You can only starve for so long before you lose it and begin to binge on your favorite foods. When it comes to stopping the cycle of Metabolic gain and lose yo-yo dieting Madness, you have to move it to lose it and weight training is one of the best ways to consistently increase your metabolism.

Thank you for participating in creating your best body ever program and taking the time to write me. You asked a very good question. Here’s my answer.

Don’t Wait to Do Weights!

I went to a party this weekend and everyone looked fabulous. It was a fine display of the concept that when you like the way you look, you feel better about yourself.

Looking good is a matter of personal preference of course. As I observe people I observe how they carry themselves, their facial expressions, their tone of voice, their body language, how they stand, walk and if they move with grace and confidence.

Strong and Beautiful

The strongest looking individuals at this party had good posture and wonderful physiques that displayed various degrees of muscle definition. Even the hostess, who was six months pregnant, looking very beautiful and glowing with life, had toned upper arms, a sculpted back and amazing legs demonstrating the benefit of consistent resistance training.  Here is a photo taken at The Ritz Carlton Training Gym in South Beach, Florida USA. It was at a shoot prep training two weeks ago for a video game charachter. I wish I had permission to show you ALL the peeps that were training that day. When you look at this photo, consider that I was over 180 pounds and shaped like an apple! I had no waist, no lats and no shoulders. This is what weight training has done for my body.

In the beginning of my training career I used heavy weights and even competed in body building contests. I won many contests and I loved the feel of lifting weights.

Unfortunately I built big legs of steel that were thicker than I wanted. Then one day I went to a seminar to hear a beautifully sculpted former body builder, Diana Dennis, and I was immediately sold on her ideas of high repetition training using light weights. Now she was a professional body builder several years ago and magazines loved photographing her because she would strike these beautiful artistic poses. This is an artistic piece taken by Photographer Tom Clark of Hollywood, California. Don’t send me any hater mail about how she is so big. YES, she was big!  She was a professional bodybuilder. Her job was to know how to build muscle. I would not ask a broke person how to make money. So I went to a professional to learn how to build muscle.  I am not advocating that you get big like this photo, I only wanted to demonstrate that she knew the art of muscle building! 🙂

I had been lifting at the gym and training my clients, but I had never done the high rep training.  I ran out the doors of the auditorium and went to a sporting good store and bought a set of hand weights that came on a small weight tree and that was the beginning of my new leaner, tighter, smaller body.

I was so excited by this new training philosophy that I created a workout using light weights for sculpting with motivating music and moves that increased the heart rate so that I could burn fat while I was reshaping my body. The result was a workout and a movement that has become a market mainstay, Vertical Training, the Art of Sculpting. Resistance Training

Resistance training increases muscle strength by overloading the muscles using a weight, such as a dumbbell or barbell. The muscle cells adapt to the extra workload by enlarging (hypertrophy) and recruiting greater numbers of nerve cells to aid contraction. Understanding the principles of muscle contraction can help you reach your fitness goals faster. Resistance training is one of the greatest anti-aging weapons available to you today.

The benefits of regular resistance training include:

  • Increased muscle strength, power, endurance and conditioning
  • Improved body shape and decreases cellulite
  • Increased bone density and strength to prevent osteoporosis
  • Reduced body fat by increasing muscle mass which is your body’s engine
  • Boosted metabolism (burning more calories when at rest) muscles are your engine  – Volkswagon verses a bus..
  • Lowered resting heart rate (a sign of fitness)
  • Reduce blood pressure (helps to reduce the risk of heart disease)

  • Reduced risk of development and improvement of medical conditions; diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis.

In conclusion, make sure you include resistance training in your program so that you can keep your metabolism up and maintain your youthful physique.

Start a lifting program 2-3 times a week.  Along with your cardio and stretching.

To help you get started, I have listed my Secret Seven Top Exercises. I do these exercises with my clients.  You can try them at home or at your gym. You can get a personal trainer to help you get started.

Get Fabuliciously Firm Thighs Fast!

High Volume Leg Training – Sexy Shapely Thighs

If you want to get in better shape faster, then stand up, get off your seat and work on your lower body.

Training your lower body makes your entire body shape up faster. Isn’t that what you want? Faster, quicker fat loss while sculpting and shaping?

If the answer is yes! Then it’s time to Get Your Pump on.

High volume (high reps combined with multiple sets of each exercise) is perfect if you want to lose fat, increase your metabolism and shape up your lower body.

A high volume program works faster and is much more effective in getting cuts without using massive weight.

Use low intensity weights, enough so that you can do 15 to 20 reps easy the first time.

Using volume training you do as many reps as you can, between 15 to 20 reps per set.

Then you do 4 to 5 sets of your chosen exercises.

Move quickly through your routine. Try to work so that you are breathing
at a good pace to pump up the intensity and increase your heart rate.

Try to make it aerobic so that you increase your circulation, increase your stamina and build up more endurance.

I was a featured speaker and guest for the NBPA rookie training camp. The athleticism and grace was just as remarkable as the dancers in our World Dance Congress Conference in Germany.

MAKE Your Dreams Come True

NEW WEEK – NEW LIFE!
It is a beautiful day and I am sitting out in the sun giggling like a five year old at a birthday party.

I just finished staring at the cover of People Magazine that has one of my clients on the cover as a Weight Loss Success Story.

It is thrilling to see someone set a goal, work through all the obstacles they face on the path to attaining it. That’s a hard fast fact about life. “It Ain’t Easy”.

Beginning this week, you can create the life of your dreams and wear all the glam clothes you have always daydreamed about. And don’t even try to pretend it doesn’t matter. Clothes are an expression of who you are and a vehicle to share your creativity with the world around you.

NOTHING GREAT COMES EASY
Camille fought for her goal each day by moving from a place of depression, extremely poor health to what Fergie sings about, “Glamorous” living.

I’m sure if you’re like me, you have days when you just can’t bear to eat one more carrot or drink one more ounce of water, you feel like you are going to hurl if you take one more bite of some tasteless egg whites.

DO NOT SKIP MEALS
I trained so hard on Saturday, that i could barely lift my fork to eat my last meal of the day. I was nauseous from dehydration and sore from a high intensity step training workout. But i knew I did not eat my fish and vegetables, my blood sugar would spiral out of control and I would hit rock bottom and go into an emotional food/mood black hole. That would ruin the entire experience I had earlier dancing and training.

How many times have you done that? skipped a meal, then went on a crazy food binge? Yeah me too. That was also one of Camille’s issues she had to overcome. SHe was so busy and she was so stressed, that she would go hours and not eat anything and then at night she would crave sweets and give in to sugary goodies.

Camille had every diabetes symptom and she was suffering from unpredictable mood swings when we fist met. She was trying so hard to lose weight when I first met her that she would barely speak to me without being angry. She was not angry at me, she was angry at all the programs that had failed and at herself for feeling like a failure.

She felt like she was doomed to live in a fat suit that was suffocating the very essence of life right out her soul. She would cry every-time we talked. It was so hard for her to try ONE MORE TIME. She didn’t feel like she had the money to pay an elite trainer like me and she did not feel like she was worthy to invest the necessary time it was going to take into her own body.

COUNT THE COST
The cost of dis-order and dis-ease is hundreds of dollars more than my DVD’s and
my Quick Start Energy Program that she used to lose over ONE HUNDRED POUNDS OF LIFE ROBBING- SELF ESTEEM DESTROYING GREASE! She started with me by pure faith. She had been praying to God for an answer to her health problems and asked God to send her a TRAINER. God did her one better, He not only sent her a trainer, He sent her a Celebrity Trainer, TV Hostess, Author and Lifestyle Coach who works with professional athletes as well, artists and anyone who has the desire to transform their body and fire up their life.

GET PAST THE PAIN
I finally convinced Camille to try Use My Quickstart Energy Eating Program and my
Power Shaping Vertical Training workout and she did the DVD at home so that no one would see her. She loved starting that way and learning how to move her body with perfect posture and steady motion.

She said she was out of breath at first, but kept at it and each time she did it, it got easier and soon she had mastered it and weight started to come off. She said her
jeans started getting loose and her arms stopped jiggling. Once she had got past the pain of giving up her old fatty foods, changing her schedule, release controlling friends and the soreness that comes with a REAL weight loss promoting workouts, she found her new body. She became sold on the workout and still does it today almost three years later. She found that without the workouts, she did not have energy

I HAD TO PAY THE PRICE
When I was obese and i finally decided to lose weight,I took a part time assignment to pay for training and diet accountability. NO one can do it alone. You need a coach. We all do. Every great athlete has a coach and a mentor. Every great business owner that wants to be successful has accountants, consultants and look for a multitude of sources for innovation, creativity and profitability.

Your body and your health is your greatest responsibility. when you lose your health and your motivation, you lose your drive to be great and succeed. Every relationship you are involved in is affected. How you feel about yourself determines how you perform and how you share yourself
with others.

YOU ARE SPECIAL
You are so unique and so special but you will NEVER realize it if you don’t do the right things for your body, your health, your mind and your Spirit. You are not on the earth alone and you were not made to function alone. Get connected with people of power and energy. Get away form negative energy sucking losers who complain all the time, people who use you and and make you feel obligated to help THEM great what they want while you suffer in silence. You have a voice and you have a destiny.

Camille went on to RELEASE the extra weight, change her opinion of herself and her worth and went as far as moving to NEW Place where she feels free and powerful. How about you, what do you need to do this week to feel more powerful and more free and in control of your future.

It can start as simple as controlling your appetite, controlling your tongue by not saying negative words and stop complaining and telling your stuff to anyone who will listen hoping for sympathy. Don’t ever seek sympathy, only seek solutions and guidance from above. NO one knows you better than
your creator.

This is going to be an awesome week for you. I feel it right now. I love it when women understand that they are no one’s slave and they have the right to live in abundance and prosperity. You deserve a life of joy and outrageous adventure. You have the right to jump out of bed with energy and vitality, rush to your closet because you can’t wait to put on beautiful clothing that is worthy of being displayed on your precious body!
